The Role

This role will work across Stag’s, Bridge, Below Deck and other event spaces to ensure that everyone visiting always feels safe and welcome. Student security staff will work with the venues management team to make sure we adhere to all relevant legislation around health and safety and licensed trade. The role will also work closely with the facilities and events teams when on shift. You will be given full SIA (Security Industry Authority) training to achieve the relevant qualification needed the work safely and confidently in the role as well as SUSU specific training to ensure you are prepared for situations that are likely to occur. However, you will still need to exercise judgement at times to ensure a positive outcome if a situation occurs that is not specifically covered in training.      

  

About You

The successful candidate will have experience in a similar role and be outgoing and confident interacting with other students and members of staff. You should be comfortable dealing with challenging situations and calm under pressure. Empathising with students and understanding the pressures facing them and how this might affect behaviour is also key. You will be able to recognise when you need to escalate a situation and when it can be managed to keep our students safe.
