By-Elections 2024

A By-Election is held to fill roles that have become vacant or were not filled between our main elections. They allow you to elect new representatives to ensure your interests are still voiced. 

We recently ran our Autumn Elections for this year. You can view the full list of candidates and winners here.

Roles up for Election

Trustee

We are looking for one Trustee to join our Trustee Board, who is responsible for overseeing the work and governance of the Students' Union. The board is made up of four of the elected Sabbatical Officers, four elected student trustees, and four external trustees with particular areas of expertise.

School President (ORC)

School Presidents are the lead academic rep for your School. You'll help and support the Department Presidents and Faculty Officers, and encourage collaboration between Schools and Departments.

Department President

Department Presidents are the lead academic rep for your Department. You'll manage representation within your Department and organise and lead the Course Reps within your Department.
- Languages, Cultures and Linguistics & ACIS
- Physiotherapy
- Social Statistics and Demography
- Sociology, Social Policy and Criminology

If running in our Elections isn’t for you, but you know someone who would be a fantastic Academic Rep or Student Officer, you can put their name forward!

All you need to do is tell us their name, university email address and which role they would be perfect for, and we’ll get in touch!

As nominations are now closed suggesting a friend will reopen during the next Autumn Elections.

Nominations are open in our By Elections from 09:00 Monday 28th October to 16:00 Friday 4th November. 

If you’re having any problems nominating yourself for a role please contact representation@susu.org.

Yes! All the roles you can run for in this By Election are part-time, volunteer roles. This means you can be a Rep alongside your studies!

Keep in mind there will be key meetings you must attend.
