Sam H outlined upcoming projects:
Women's Health Month in March is being run by the university, who have asked if the Union would like to run anything for students as a part of this. Sam H is intending to hold a raffle to promote/give away MoonCups, launch the giveaway of free menstruation products in collaboration with the LibDem Society (this will be rolled out for the long term if it goes well), and hold an STI screening. The Sexual Health services have said that they need to promote this especially to LGBT+ and BAME groups.
Laura suggested doing something around cervical smear tests awareness, and Sam H confirmed that she is working with the PostGraduate Committee to do something around this.
International Women's Day (IWD) is 8th March. Although we have been trying to set up a panel event, we have yet to have any speakers confirmed. It was agreed that we could try to get a single speaker to do a talk (rather than a panel), but failing this the event may have to be cancelled.
It was agreed that it would be beneficial to run the Inspiring Women campaign again this year, and that this would work well on social media. Sam H will send an email inviting students to participate, and ensure that the diversity within the Union is well represented.
Healthy relationships and Empowerment Week is w/c 16th April. FemSoc are planning to hold a fashion showcase of the outfits people were wearing when they got assaulted (as anonymously as they want). Any further ideas are welcome.
