Southampton Marrow
Marrow is the student-led branch of Anthony Nolan, a charity that recruits people to the stem cell register in order to provide lifesaving stem cell transplants for people with blood cancer and other blood disorders.
Hi! We are Southampton Marrow, a part of Anthony Nolan which is a charity that runs the largest stem cell register in the UK and helps save the lives of people with blood cancer and other blood disorders by matching them with donors from the register. 75% of patients rely on donors from outside of their families which is why it is important that as many people as possible are on the stem cell register to try and find a match for everyone who needs one.
As a society, we have 3 main aims:
- Raise awareness of the stem cell register
- Recruit people aged 16-30 as potential donors
- Hold fundraising events for Anthony Nolan
By volunteering with us, you can help us achieve these aims and save lives! We run donor recruitment events, information stalls, and fundraising campaigns throughout the year as well as socials :) Volunteering with us is super flexible, you get to meet new people and gain many transferable skills as well as being part of a national network of over 60 Marrow groups.
