Riding

Hi all, welcome to SURC (Southampton University's Riding Club). We look forward to seeing you all throughout the year whether you are interested in trialling for teams, taking part in lessons or coming along to one of our great socials! We can't wait to see some old and new faces, all are welcome. Please come along to our bunfight stall in September, in the meantime if you have any questions feel free to email our riding account (riding@soton.ac.uk) or any of our committee members below. We are also active on our social media accounts, and encourage you to follow them to get the most up to date information!

The Riding Club aims to offer something for everyone, whether you have ridden on national teams or have never been on a horse before.

Some of the activities we offer:

  • 2 BUCS competition teams with weekly training sessions (championship and trophy leagues which compete upto national level alongside hundreds of UK universities, we compete under BSJ and BD 85-90cm courses and Novice/Prelim tests)
  • A friendlies team who compete in the same style as BUCs but at a lower level. Also good for those who cannot commit to weekly training sessions and don't have competition experience
  • Weekly lessons for all abilities (beginner to advanced)
  • Regular nights out
  • Meet ups, fun days out and full club events
  • A variety of sober socials and non-riding activities
  • Annual Christmas meal and Athletics Union Ball

We are also looking to offer:

  • Hacks in the New Forest
  • Annual Beach Ride
  • Riding Club Holiday
