Engineers Rugby!

Any degree. Any ability.

Rugby at university currently has a bad reputation, and it's our mission to change this. We don’t do initiations. We don’t do horror stories. We enjoy a pint or eight, and some joue rugby!

Our philosophy is if you turn up, you play, and we take this to heart, aiming to give everyone a fair share of game time no matter of ability. Our player base ranges in skill from those who have never touched a rugby ball to ex-county and academy representatives.

This forthcoming year we hope to show the South once again the true definition of ‘flair rugby’, with regular fixtures against the other intramural teams, as well as against local universities. We also offer a comprehensive sevens season, including the annual National Engineers Rugby Tournament - having most recently finished as the fourth best university Engineers Rugby side in Britain.

Alongside our on-field events, we host almost weekly socials—from floating down the River Itchen to crawling the pubs of Portswood. Our social calendar remains fun and refreshing throughout the year, even if it leaves you slightly sore-headed in the morning!

From our annual tour to an undisclosed European country to tearing up the pitch against one of our noisy neighbours, joining the Engineers won’t be a decision you regret. You’ll be joining a community and creating memories and friendships to last a lifetime.

Make sure to join us at our taster session, follow us on Instagram, and drop us a message @suesrugby for more details, or if you have any questions.
