Catholic Society
The University of Southampton Catholic Society (Cathsoc) is a vibrant and diverse community of students from a great range of backgrounds and countries. One of our weekly activities is celebrating a Catholic Mass at 6:30pm every Sunday in the Faith and Reflection centre, followed a home-cooked meal. We also meet every Tuesday at 7pm in the Faith and Reflection centre where we get a chance to relax and meet other Catholics, and those interested in the Catholic faith. Here we run a variety of activities, ranging from games nights, to talks from visitors who help us to explore the Catholic faith further. We are based in the Faith and Reflection Centre, so pop in any time and you are sure to find someone! We are an inclusive and welcoming community so everyone is welcome to any of our events, whether you are practicing Catholic, haven’t been to mass for years, or are just interested in finding out about the Catholic faith. The University of Southampton Catholic Society (CathSoc) is a real joy to be part of, even if we say so ourselves! We're a vibrant community with a wonderful mix of students from many different backgrounds and countries, which makes it possible for everyone to feel welcome and at home.
Our main activity is hosting a Mass every Sunday during term time in the Faith and Reflection Centre at 6:30PM, followed by a home-cooked meal on campus. We also organize a CathSoc night every Tuesday at 7PM in the Faith and Reflection Centre, where we get a chance to relax and meet likeminded students in a friendly and open environment - there may be food here too if you're lucky! To top it all off, we offer the opportunity to go on various trips such as our very own retreat on the Isle of Wight in November! It has always been a much-loved and enjoyed weekend away from the stresses of university life. The society is based at the Faith and Reflection Centre, and we have support from our wonderful chaplains, Sr Emiliana and Fr Benjamin, who are always available to provide help, advice or just have a chat - and of course, the student committee are always there to help you feel right at home! Everyone is welcome to our events, even if you haven't been to Mass in years (or aren't even Catholic!), so feel free to bring along a friend or flatmate if you wish!
How could you say no to all this?! We can't wait to meet you!
