Art Society

Welcome to Art Society! We welcome students of all abilities and experience levels! We are aiming to create a welcoming and open environment where you can come and have time to create your own art, meet new people, and have access to new materials and ideas you might not have tried before! Our sessions are every Thursday in the Clubs and Societies Room, 5:30-7:30pm. We're a no-pressure society, and you certainly don't need art experience to join - just a passion for creativity!

We have art sessions running every Thursday from 5:30-7:30 pm in the Clubs and Societies Room*. For these sessions, you can come at any time and stay for as long or as little as you would like!

*How to get here? Walk into SUSU, past reception, down the stairs to the cube level, take a right past the toilets, past the squash courts and it's on the right. Timelapse video showing directions available on our Instagram page @uosartsoc.

Each session will be loosely themed and we will provide the necessary art materials, however, you can bring your own materials if you would like, and you do not have to follow the theme if you have something else you would like to do.

To gain access to our sessions, please purchase a Semester 1 or Year Membership.

We will also be running extra events, socials and trips over the year, so keep a lookout for those on SUSU and our social media!

Please don't hesitate to get in contact with any questions, ideas or suggestions through our Discord or Instagram.

Year Helper membership£10.0029/09/2024 - 01/09/2025Help us set up and pack away at our weekly sessions and workshops, in return for a cheaper membership price. You would need to help at 10-13 sessions and workshops throughout the year (out of ~45) to get this membership. It’s easy to swap shifts if you can’t make certain dates. Limited to 5 helpers - sign up fast if you’re interested! What does setting up and packing away require? You will be guided by a committee member, so you'll know exactly what to do on the day. The job usually requires easy tasks like putting up the tables, arranging chairs, putting on the tablecloths, refilling the water station and then packing these away at the end of the session, as well as cleaning our paintbrushes and surfaces. This will take 20 mins before and after each session, so remember to turn up early (typically 17:10 for our Thursday weekly sessions, make sure you don't have a 5-6pm lecture on Thursdays!*) For the rest of the session, you'll act like a normal artsoc member - you can use all of our art supplies and just enjoy the session. Recomended for big artsoc fans, or those who don't like to wait before a session! *(We're happy to sort something out, and have you only do packing away shifts if you have 5-6pm lectures on Thursdays in Semester 2, as timetables aren't out yet - so don't worry about this!)
