Why vote for Dylan Dodhia?

Hi, my name’s Dylan and I’m currently a third year mechanical engineering student, having just completed a placement year at Bentley Motors. My hobbies include drumming, playing badminton, watching F1, and cooking!

I believe I should be elected for Engineering School President because I consider a safe space for every concern/ piece of feedback of the utmost importance. I aim to ensure this by implementing additional forums such as drop-in sessions and anonymous forms to allow your voices to be heard.

During my placement year, the importance of transferable soft skills was evident. Hence, I’d like to create networking events and skill workshops to help develop your employability. Additionally, whilst on placement, I’ve heard of various issues including the lack of transparency from lecturers/ faculty. Hence, I look to boost effective communication and transparency to ensure these, amongst your other concerns, are addressed appropriately.

Wellbeing, especially whilst studying engineering, is extremely important. Therefore, I would like to advocate and reinforce the wellbeing support streams available, to ensure it’s at the highest standard and of easy access. Furthermore, I would like to incorporate more inter-cohort socials as a break from studying and an extra means of networking.

Having previously won the ‘Best Contribution to the Faculty’ award for Course Rep, and with much experience with leadership and communication, being proactive and consistently implementing positive change, I believe I have the skillset required to undertake the role of Engineering School President.

Have a great day and please don’t forget to vote! 🙂
