Why vote for Catherine Anderson?

Sustainability. Automatically, many assume it is just about the environment - how we can change the outcomes of the infamous climate change – yet, there is more to sustainability, as it should not only be focused on the planet but also the people. With that in mind, this is why I am putting myself forward for the position of Engineering and Physical Sciences Sustainability Officer.

Recently, I have participated in the Engineering Without Borders Challenge, which is a challenge that asks for solutions to issues located in a certain place globally. Within this, the challenge urged competitors to not only create a practical solution but asked them to think about how sustainable it would be, for the people. Through this, I gained a deeper understanding as to how to apply sustainability in practical contexts, and hope to use these skills to improve the overall sustainability, as a university.

Moreover, I understand the importance of communication. Through each meeting or decision made, I will always make sure that your opinions and ideas will be heard and voiced. As a community, we have an opportunity to make a difference through the decisions we make, as they could impact our future and how we live. So, as your sustainability officer, I will communicate effectively between students and the university, relaying the student body's voice in all meetings.

If you choose me to represent you, not only will I focus on creating an impact in the environment (with you in mind) but also help your ideas and opinions be heard, so that we can create change together.
