Why vote for Phoebe George?
As class rep, I have previous experience of academic representation and I will advocate for students across all three cohorts at every opportunity. I am very passionate about student welfare, and I believe that support in this area could be developed - especially with regards to placement experiences. This is something that I would make a priority if I was elected.
I propose further collaboration between the University and the Trusts. It has been felt that students placed at UHS are more likely to see improvements made after issues have been fed back and this is something that I would like to even out across all Trusts. The increased collaboration would ideally not only include improvement to the quality of the learning experiences but also looking after student wellbeing. Recurring feedback has shown that there is inadequate support whilst on placement and can be dependent on the midwives working that shift and how good of a rapport they have with their Practice Assessor. I would advocate for a review of the Practice Assessors we are assigned to. I believe this would be beneficial as feedback has reflected that there are disparities in the support of students between Practice Assessors.
I would like to create opportunities for students to meet with the Trust PMAs early in the course so we can establish another source of support and open that communication pathway. I would promote the involvement of second and third years in hospital PROMPT training and skills days.
