Why vote for Ash Mochol?
Hi everyone,
My name is Ash, I’m currently a pure maths second year student. You might probably know me best from my work as a 2nd year rep or as vice president of the maths society.
Over the past year, it’s been great being able to relay the thoughts of my peers at the Student Staff Liaison Committee (SSLC), both positive and negative, to improve the academic experience for everyone (not only) in my year. I also extensively work with the Students’ Union as a Senator, which allowed me to feed in about assessment.
Joint Honour students are often sidelined during the feedback process, as some of their modules do not come under the School of Mathematical Sciences. I want to change that by directly working with the Joint Honours reps and relaying that feedback directly to the appropriate School/Department President.
Being a Course Rep can be stressful sometimes - whether it is standing up in front of your peers to ask them for feedback or having to relay uncomfortable feedback at SSLC or directly to a lecturer. That shouldn’t be the case. I will work course reps to build their confidence; help them deliver their peers’ opinions clearly and effectively; and make sure they are comfortable at every step of the way.
Most important of all, I want to be there for all of you and be an approachable face for you to talk to about any issues you might be facing with your student experience.
