Why vote for Achsah James?
I am incredibly passionate about equality and fighting against racial injustices. I demonstrate this through my work as part of a research project- called 'confident to talk'- which aims to find and eliminate factors which lead to the underreporting of racism on placement, creating posters that promote EDI which have been distributed in local NHS clinics and reverse mentoring senior members with the NIHR to help them understand the unique barriers BAME researchers have. I am motivated by my experiences and other students I know. I want to create a safe space where students (of all subjects) can express any concerns, communicate with ethnic societies on how best to support them, I will meet with senior staff to work on solutions to any racial issues and most importantly, make sure BAME students have their voices heard.
