Why vote for Isobel Robertson?
I have been a student at Southampton for almost two years now. These years have been an incredible experience, and I have learnt so much during this time. The knowledge and experiences we are given through our course are incredible. However, I have also seen a lot of misgivings, and have spoken many times with other students about problems we have with our faculty and curriculum, eg poor communication, poor organisation and structure, and lack of empathy and listening. As Medicine Faculty Officer, my aim would be to maintain and enhance the positive experiences I have had at the university, while addressing and improving the problems. I would do this by making sure to communicate well with my fellow students as well as members of the faculty.
I have been a member of the Theatre Society, Dance Society, Vixens Cheerleading and Dance Society and Wildlife Society for two years now, as well as Vice-President of the Wildlife Society this year. Being a part of so many societies has taught me a lot about how other faculties and subjects are run, of which the good parts I can bring to the Faculty of Medicine. Being Vice-President has taught me so much about the structure of how societies and the university are run behind the scenes, and given me experience in dealing with big amounts of responsibility and planning. Besides this, I am empathetic, well-organised and good at communication. I am also not afraid to stand up for what is needed. Due to all of these things I believe I am suitable to be the next Medicine Faculty Officer, and hope you consider voting for me.
