Why vote for Yaviin Jayasoma?

I believe I should be elected to be the Engineering School Department because I have ensured prevalent communication has been maintained. Specifically, I have made an active effort to act as the lead figure between department presidents and course representatives, as such with my endeavours to collect feedback for the MATH1054 module to push for change.

Alongside this, I have always been proactive in using my position, to voice my opinions at engineering socials to express my opinions on matters such as future & current themes and analysing the proficiency of the continuity between years of study, through Thasmia’s (Current Engineering School President) and the School Education Board’s Report.

Specifically, within my 2nd year as department president, I continued to ensure that I was approachable to those who were new to being a course representative so that they could ask me any queries they had. Alongside my responsibility to co-chair the SSLCs and prepare the course representatives for these meetings, I also always attempted to maximise the impact I could have regarding wider program issues that could impact several cohorts, by maintaining strong communication with Thasmia and Rebecca Would (VP of Education).

As a result, this role has considerably developed my ability to be responsible for managing a team, whilst reporting to those senior simultaneously. Therefore, I believe due to my ambitions to take on a lead position among the department presidents and communicate with those more senior, I am capable of taking on the responsibility of Engineering School President.
