External Trustee (Voluntary Role)

SUSU (the University of Southampton Students’ Union) is looking for an External Trustee to join our Board of Trustees. Along with the 4 elected Student Trustees and 4 Sabbatical Trustees, our 4 External Trustees form a key part of our governance. You will oversee and support the work of the Chief Executive and Senior Leadership Team at SUSU, ensuring the organisation fulfils its charitable objectives and mission. 

No previous experience as a Trustee is required but you must be committed, reliable and have the highest ethical standards as well as relevant professional experience. Please note that this role is not open to current students although we welcome applications from alumni.  

We are committed to maintaining the diversity of the Board so on this occasion we are looking for non-male candidates from a finance professional background. The Trustee Board meets 3-4 times a year, and the sub-committees 2-3 times a year. The total time commitment for this role is likely to be 4-5 hours per month. 

Trustee meetings are either hybrid or fully in person so you must be able to attend at least some meetings in Southampton.
