Scam Awareness
Students are often targeted by scammers trying to get either money or your personal details from you for illegal gain. Please see the bullet points below that could help towards keeping you and your information safe.
- Never give any passwords, banking or personal details to anyone you do not know or trust. Nobody in a position of trust or support will ask you for those things. This information is valuable, so make sure you protect it.
- The Government will not contact you by phone to ask you to pay a fine.
- No official body in the UK, Government or otherwise, will ask you to pay a fine in iTunes vouchers.
- If you are unsure who has contacted you, find out before giving any personal information.
- If an offer looks too good to be true, it probably is.
- Always log on to a website directly rather than clicking on links in an email.
If in any doubt, contact The Advice Centre for support. Call us on 023 8059 2085 or email advice@susu.org.
