Hi everyone!
I’m just writing to let you know that SUSU will be hosting a husting on Wednesday 26th June, as part of the lead up to the UK General Election on the 4th July.
So what is a husting? For those who don’t know, a husting is a meeting where election candidates (local MP candidates in this case) get a chance to present their policies, debate with each other, and answer questions from the audience. It’s a great opportunity to see the candidates in action, understand their positions on key issues, and make an informed decision when you head to vote.
As students, the policies and decisions made by our government have a direct impact on our lives—from tuition fees and accommodation to job prospects and the environment. This is your chance to hear directly from the people who want to represent you and influence the future of our country. Your vote is your voice, and the hustings is a great way to ensure your voice is informed and powerful.
I couldn’t write this blog without a friendly reminder: the deadline to register to vote is Tuesday 18th June. It’s so important to get this done so you can have your say in the election. Registering is quick and easy; just click on this link and follow the instructions.
The hustings will be held in the Bridge at 5PM. At the time of writing this, we have 6 out of the 7 candidates from the Southampton Test constituency, ready to discuss their ideas and answer your questions. This is not just a chance to learn but also to engage and perhaps even challenge the candidates on the issues that matter most to you.

See you there!
