Looking for accommodation or housemates for the 25/26 academic year? We’ve got you covered with a few easy steps to help you find the perfect place to call home!

Finding Accommodation

To kick off your search for student accommodation, be sure to check out SASSH (Southampton Accreditation Scheme for Student Housing). SASSH provides listings of properties exclusively for Solent and University of Southampton students. Simply register with your university email address and start browsing! Visit their website at www.sassh.co.uk and head to the ‘Message Board’ for current listings.

Finding a Housemate

If you’re in search of a housemate, SUSU has a Housemate Finder Tool designed to connect students who are looking to share accommodation. Check it out here: Housemate Finder. 

You can also post your housemate search on The Advice Centre Housing – Facebook page, where you can connect with others in similar housing situations. Be sure to include detailed information in your advert to help attract the right housemate. Here’s a checklist of what to include:

  • Size of the house (room numbers/tenants)
  • Cost (inclusive or exclusive of bills – provide an estimate of monthly bills)
  • Location (proximity to the university or Unilink bus stops)
  • Room details (double/single room, furniture provided)
  • Facilities (bathrooms, lounge, garden, Wi-Fi, etc.)
  • Housemate preferences (undergraduate/postgraduate, gender, year of study)

Be honest about your expectations. For instance, if your current household is tidy and quiet, make sure to specify that you’re looking for someone who shares those habits. If your household tends to be lively and enjoys hosting parties, mention that too. Transparency ensures a smoother transition and helps avoid any conflicts down the line.
