Sarah Fergusson – Adviser
Students and Financial Hardship
Being a student can mean that available finances are limited, and students can find themselves in genuine financial hardship. If you find yourself in this position there is some support offered by both the University, and SUSU, The Advice Centre.
The University has the Student Support Fund that you can apply for if you run out of money.
If are a Home/UK student experiencing unexpected financial hardship, the University may be able to help. Please see the link below to the Uni web pages surrounding the fund, including how to apply page.
If you are an International or EU student, the link below is to the web pages for the EU and International Student Support Fund information, including how to apply https://www.southampton.ac.uk/studentservices/money-matters/financial-support-and-wellbeing/eu-and-international-fund.page
If you find yourself in the position that you have run out of food, and have no means of buying more, SUSU Advice Centre has food bags that you can collect from them, until you are able to access more funds. Please go to The Advice Centre reception in B40 and speak with Adam Palmer on reception.
You can also access The Advice Centre for budgeting tips and advice.
