Preparing for Exam Resits

Exam resits can be stressful, you might not have thought you would be in the position to need to take them. But it is important to make the most of this opportunity. Here are 5 things you can do to make sure you are ready for your exam resits.

  1. Know where you are going, when and what with – Make sure you know the rooms you need to go to, when you need to be there and what you will need to take with you. Knowing the little things can help when you get to the day and find yourself a little stressed.
  2. Organise – Knowing when and where you need to be is a great start to being organised, but you may also have more than the one resit you need to do, planning on how you are getting to and from these exams along with the revision prior can again help when it comes down to the day.
  3. Speak to your PAT/course leader/lecturer – If you have some time try organising a 1 to 1 with your PAT, course leader or lecturer, they will often be happy to give you some tips for the exam and with more specialised knowledge they may even be able to answer any burning questions you might have.
  4. Revise! – It’s an obvious one, but don’t think because you have done it before you will fly through your second attempt. Make sure to also mix up your revision, head to a different place to do this or change the style of revision. It can really help if you are going through the motions.
  5. Look after yourself – It is important to make sure you get through the resits, it’s easy to forget and get sucked into a 12-hour revision session when you lose track of time. This can be detrimental to what you are trying to achieve, make sure to take regular breaks, eat good food, exercise (even a short walk can help) and don’t forget to sleep!

If anything comes up before or during your exams that has affected your performance you can always look to submit a special consideration request prior or appeal after, if you need any support with this look here for more information.
