Singapore Society

The University of Southampton Singapore Society (SingSoc) is a place for students, Singaporean and non Singaporean alike, to immerse in uniquely Singaporean culture, and engage in a familiar community through casual and annually organised social and professional events. We are a diverse society comprising of students from varied backgrounds and nationalities that include students from Malaysia, Brunei, Hong Kong, China, and the United Kingdom to name a few. Our primary aim is to provide help and specific knowledge to all members, as well as new or exchange students to the University of Southampton from Singapore. We hope to help ease the transition from the comforts of home to the independent overseas student life with tips, advice and personal experiences. In addition, we aim to provide members and students who are interested in Singapore's culture with more detailed and personal information on our homeland, especially to students who wish to pursue an exchange semester in Singapore. As a society we organise social trips within the UK, dinners commemorating various festive occasions and our annual Summer Chalet BBQ in Singapore. We build bonds with our members through regular sport sessions, and both inter and intra University sporting tournaments. We also constantly update members on any events organised by the SingSocs of other UK Universities. As our society liaises with companies and government departments, we periodically inform our members of career opportunities offered by establishments in Singapore so as to provide them with assistance in career development.
